Meet DeDe Shaw

DeDe grew up working with horses. Her late husband, George Shaw, a talented businessman and professional harness racer, fit right in. “I knew from the beginning that if I were ever to date anybody, he had to be involved in horses,” says DeDe.

For five years the Shaws bought products at retail and never looked at the business. Then in 1981, they started searching for a franchise to purchase after retiring from horse racing. When they found Shaklee, they saw a staggering potential for income, without the high level of risk or startup costs.

They hit the ground running. Their first month they sold $11,000 in products, just handing out catalogs in the mornings so they could be home with their son after school. They did meetings three nights a week, every week. George would focus on the income possibilities and DeDe would graciously share product stories. They would take “car loads” of people with them to meetings.

Within 22 months they had reached one of the highest ranks in their company and had helped 15 others achieve ranks as well. Within 36 months, they had reached the company’s highest level. Today, the Shaw organization is the largest in Shaklee North America. They have more than 500 leaders earning five- and six-figure incomes, and 50 teams that have also attained the company’s highest rank.

When DeDe lost George in 2016, she discovered what an incredible legacy the two had created. They now have grandkids who are coming into the business. “We’re sure glad we made the decision to join Network Marketing all those years ago,” says DeDe. “We were able to be at home to raise our son and provide our family with substantial income, and now I am able to pass all that on to my grandchildren.”
